Los Angeles & First LA Photo Adventure

I am basically fully moved in to my new place in Los Angeles and almost ready to start the MFA program at Cal Arts. Orientation is next week. Saying that makes me feel 18 again except I'm not as doe eyed and I get worse hangovers. In any case, I'm ready to soak up some knowledge, expand my work and meet some really interesting, insightful and hopefully cool people.

Yesterday I went on a photo adventure around the desert with a fellow photographer friend. We hit up Salvation Mountain, the Salton Lake and then pit stopped in Palm Springs for some icy alcoholic beverages and pool time before driving back to LA. It was a long and lovely day albeit extremely hot. Maybe it's not the best idea to trek through the desert in August. It capped out at about 110* but we munched on fruit, enjoyed the air conditioning in my car and saw some beautiful (and somewhat desolate and smelly) sites.

I'm going to make shooting for the joy of shooting more of a priority. I have a new Mamiya and I'm experimenting with different films. Hopefully I'll get it all developed and scanned in the next couple of weeks.
